WHY CHALLENGE YOURSELF
I always loved getting up late in the morning and then rush to office. It was a norm for couple of decades when I started seeing people running in groups early in the morning. As you passed them, you can see the sweat just all over them. You could also see them their legs are having trouble carrying them. You could also sense the uncomfortableness of the summer weather and yet they were running. And there were smiles on their faces. I began to feel the charge in my mind and body to take up running. I gave running a try. I though it would be easy and believe it or not, running is not easy. It took me months to get hold of running and I really began to run.
I was not exactly the lean and exercised kind of guy. Was more like the corporate types. More focussed on the job and less on health. Resulting in increase in waistline. And I was well passing through the wonderful mid fourties. Running was less of an option in front of people like us. Gym was more preferable
I began to dream on my running. As I started running I began to dream. I dreamt to be running in highways. I dreamt to be running on the hills. I dreamt the way i would be sweating. I dreamt I would be running between cities. I just kept dreaming and I kept running. Day, weeks, months and years. And in the early fifties running is more of a fun for me. When I look back, I feel I have covered a long way
The impact of going after the challenge I set for myself was phenomenal
- More sure about myself: Perhaps one of the greatest impact running had on me. I could think of doing the unthinkable
- Far more relaxed: With mind and body in sync, mentally more relaxing.
- Risk taker: You begin to think beyond the boundaries. You can visualize success beyond the challenges
There is a golden line in Neuro Linguistic programming NLP. If one can do it, anybody can. I could do it as I saw others doing it. And you can do it also. YOU JUST NEED TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF AND DO SOME GREAT CONSTRUCTIVE SELF TALKING
Challenge yourself for some great outcomes.
There could be extremes in the reason why you would like to challenge yourself. You could be challenging yourself to overcome fear or any short comings. You could also look at the same challenges in terms of the wonderful outcomes you would like for yourself. For example you working on your public speaking skills should not necessarily be to overcome the fear of talking in front of a large gathering. You could explore another scenario to challenge yourself. Can you visualize a challenging and motivating scenario that as you are speaking, the audience is simply spell bound, listening intently, valuing everything you are say and feeling the sense of great takeaways in hand as you complete the speech. The impact could be simply what you are dreaming of. The reason of accepting a challenge has a great impact on the outcome.
